With young children, there are definite signs you will pick up during a photo session and strategies that may or may not work with and during the entire photo session... Let me explain with a few visuals and some duologue from this session last summer in SD with my little cousin here... This little one is 2 years old at the time of this photo... TWO, I think everyone understands the roller coaster of emotions of a 2 year old... She is a total doll as you can see. What you can't see is she has ideas of her own and really you are at the mercy of whatever that idea maybe at any given moment... She was happy to go have her photo taken, with her older sister this afternoon and largely because I made the mistake of telling the girls I had some chewing gum for them "After" the session... How long is "after" for a 2 year old?
I love this photo of her. But she is starting to think more and more about that gum and the whole AFTER statement...
And then you see, it's over... She tried her very best but she is ready for AFTER and that gum... And because I did get some wonderful photos and I don't want to stress her anymore we head for the van...
And with as sweet a smile you have ever seen and as sweet a little voice you've ever heard, she leans over in the seat to ask me, "Gum now?" It's now AFTER... And I have a story I treasure and photos as well...
Thanks for stopping in...
